I am new with Hubzilla. Short question: How to change and store the language of the interface. Seems it stitches back all the time to default - English.

A warm welcome @
Hiker
! You can set the language of the interface here /lang . Please install the language app here /apps/available first.

Thanks for your info. Yes, I set the language and the app is installed. Is the setup stored in a cookie? Next time when I call my hub the language settings is lost (my browser deletes all cookies when leaving).

I've been using Hubzilla for a while, but I don't have an answer to your question. The best place to ask technical questions about Hubzilla is in @
Hubzilla Support Forum
. You usually get an answer there quickly.

You may find an answer to your question or a solution to your problem here
"How can I show my Hubzilla site in only one fixed language irrespective of browser language and without any app?
"
https://framagit.org/hubzilla/core/-/issues/1641
. I would be pleased if you report here in the thread whether you have found a solution/approach to a problem and how this solution works.

I found something - it has to do with the settings of the browser. My browser was set on Deutsch [de] but the language files for Hubzilla is called Deutsch [de-de] - so Hubzilla couldn't find Deutsch [de] and took the default files in English. So I set browser language now to Deutsch [de-de] and it works! With other words: [de] is not [de-de] ;-)

I suggest that you document this solution in the form of an Hubzilla article or a web page on your hub and use appropriate hashtags, e.g. #
HubzillaHelp
#
HubzillaLang
#
LanguageSettingsHbz
, #
HubzillaFAQ
, #
HubzillaFirstSteps
etc., to ensure that the solution can be found. Then others will also benefit from it ;-).

Hi @
Hiker
,
Hubzilla looks for the language of your browser. So if it is set to English Hubzulla allways will appear in English. And I think it's also the fallback if it can't handle the information.

Yes, as described above: The German language file is set to language "de-de" but the browser was set to "de" and so the display was English as fallback.
I think Hubzilla takes the language settings (for German) very seriously - setting to "de" should be enough IMHO. Or do we really want also "de-ch" and "de-at"? With other languages the settings there is only the first part (fr, es, it, en).
